Structure of GSM Normal Burst for GMSK Modulation

下圖是一個 GSM GMSK 的 Normal Burst結構,總長有 156.25bits。

在GSM系統裡面收發一個NB,在Baseband 如何作Burst的位元流Bitstream synchronization? 答案就是利用 Training Sequence Code(TSC) 在GSM 05.02裡面有規範了 TSC 0 ~ TSC 8 的位元序列碼如下

在系統的Layer 1中一般 取中間的 16bits 內容去跟上面定義的 TSC 作自相關(Autocorrelaction)就可以取得位元流的同步,而因應多路徑衰減效應(Multipath & Fading effect)所以要作通道等化(channle equalization)處理,也是透過中間的 16bits 去作 Channel Impulse Respone(CIR) estimate,通常使用的是 FIR Filter ( 5 tap),演算法通常是 LSE Based。

在 GSM 系統里 26-frame 所組成Multiframe 總共為 120ms長,因此一個frame 長度為 60/13ms,差不多等於4.615ms。而一個frame裡面採取TDMA(Time Division Multiple Access)的設計可以分為8個Timeslot,因此一個Timeslot長度為 7500/13 us,約略接近576.923us。又在一個Normal Burst的Timeslot中含有156.25位元,所以一個位元時間長為 48/13us,約略接近 3.6923us,而因為需要Bitstream synchronization,所以GSM系統裡面計時的基本單位都採用Quarter (1/4) bit 長,其時間長度就等於 12/13us,約略等於 0.923us。

由上面可以看到系統的基數是由26-Frame 與 120ms兩個關鍵值導出其最小公因數為 13,為了方便基頻(Base Band)與Protocol設計,所以市面上GSM手機的系統參考頻率都採 13Mhz or 26Mhz作為基準。

發現書後附錄有一個 List of GSM Standards 應該不錯用
就作了這一份 以備不時之需
而 Standard 的取得除了可以拜Google大神,不然就是上ETSI或是3GPP Websites,免費取得,另外在ETSI 上有作了一個ETSI對應3GPP的文件參考。
GSM 的 RF Engineer 應該把 05.xx 都看過幾遍,尤其 05.05、05.10與05.50是重點中的重點。
P.S.當然如果是一個 RF Engineer for GSM Phone 遵循的就是 GSM 11 .10, Mobile station conformity specifications,只是要搞清楚來龍去脈還是要把上面 GSM 05.xx 系列讀過一遍才好。
